Mosier Information Services is an experienced security and systems development firm. Our 20 years of experience has enabled us to become experts in many types of security and we can generally help with lost or forgotten passwords.
For file-related passwords such as documents, databases, etc, we generally turn these requests around in 24 hours. In some cases and with some file formats, our proprietary tools cannot instantly recover a password, in which case it could take up to 72 hours, although this is a rare occurrence.
Several methods are used to decrypt, decypher and/or decode passwords in nearly all file formats. Depending on the type of password technology used some are instantaneous and some must be "hacked" using either a dictionary or brute-force attack.
When encryption is really strong and password cannot be recovered instantly, dictionary attack is the most effective one - with it, our software tries every word in a dictionary (wordlist) until the password is found. This method is popular because it is well known that many people use common words as passwords. Our carefully-crafted dictionaries contain millions of words which include specialists, technical and foreign language words. In addition, we have added thousands of character combinations that are often used as passwords such as "1234", "qwerty", "abcdef" etc.
If you order our password recovery services on a supported file and we cannot retrieve, reset or remove the password for you, you don't pay a thing. Period.
It doesn't get much easier than that.

Q: Why is the pricing so different for different files and programs?
A: The prices vary for a number of diffferent factors. Some programs do not feature secure encryption algorithms and passwords can easily be recovered by manipulating the file itself. Other programs are substantially more secure and require dictionary or brute-force attacks, which take more time and resources, so they naturally cost more.
Q: What is a "dictionary attack"?
A: A dictionary attack is where the computer tries combinations of a VERY large list of words in numerous languages to try and open the file or program. Often dictionaries or word lists include more than words, such as phrases, numbers, names, quotes and other sources of common passwords. Multiple combinations of capitalization and combinations of words are tested. Because of the speed of the software programs we use to perform this work, this can be done relatively quickly. We have compiled dictionaries from numerous sources into a single large dictionary that can be used for this type of attack. Typically, people are very similar and most people still choose a word, name or number that is short and easy to remember. This method can take from a few minutes to several hours.
Q: What is a "brute-force" attack?
A: A brute-force attack is where we try every possible combination of characters against the password until a match is found. While we carefully orchestrate this process by planning the sequence of guesses and character sets used, this method generally takes much longer. While this method will eventually be 100% effective in every case, the length of time needed to try every possible password combination could literally take decades for long passwords. This method is, therefore, generally only practical with short passwords but remains an important tool in our arsenal.
Q: What is the process for ordering this service?
A: Simple. One of the tabs above states "Order Now". If you fill this tab out, it will create a work order in our system. Usually within 2 to 4 business hours, you will receive a call from one of our password recovery specialists who will take you through some steps to determine the size of your file. Depending on the size, we will either talk you through the process of uploading the file or we will ask that you copy the file to an external media such as a USB drive and overnight to us. Once we receive the file and recover, reset or remove your password, we will then process your payment and return the file to you in the same manner that you sent it to us.
Q: Do you offer Password Recovery Services on the Mac?
A: No, not at this time.
To get started, simply fill out the information form below or call us at (888) 389-DATA. Once we receive your order, you will be contacted within 2 to 4 business hours (9AM-6PM, Mon-Fri) to assess the size of your file and walk you through submitting it to us.

We had to let our office manager go. Somehow before she left she found out what was going to happen and put passwords on our accounting and other important files. When we could not get in and she tried to extort money from us in exchange for the passwords. We had Mosier Information Services spend a day at the office and we were able to remove all of the passwords from her files. They are very professional and up-front about the process and managed to follow-through on every promise they made. I hope this never happens again but if it does, we will be sure to call them again.
