Legacy System Modernization
Your business runs on software built for the 90s. Your competitors are running on software built for today.
We modernize Access, FileMaker, Lotus Notes, FoxPro, and other legacy databases into scalable web applications. 40+ years of experience. Zero data loss. Systems that will last another decade.
Legacy systems we modernize
If your business runs on any of these, it's time to talk.
These platforms served their purpose. Some of them served it for 30 years. But every one of them is a liability your business is carrying right now.
Microsoft Access
Released 1992Desktop database that's reached end-of-life for modern business needs.
- 2GB size limit
- Single-user file locking
- Corruption issues
- No real security
- VBA code maintenance nightmare
FileMaker Pro
Released 1985Rapid development platform that doesn't scale and locks you into a proprietary ecosystem.
- Expensive per-user licensing
- Limited web deployment
- Difficult integrations
- Performance issues at scale
- Vendor lock-in
Lotus Notes
End of Support: 2021Enterprise collaboration platform IBM abandoned. Security risks and compliance nightmares.
- No security updates
- Compliance violations
- Expensive maintenance
- Terrible mobile access
- Hard to hire developers
FoxPro / Visual FoxPro
Discontinued 2007Desktop database Microsoft stopped supporting nearly 20 years ago.
- No modern OS support
- Security vulnerabilities
- No developer talent available
- Can't run on modern hardware
- Data at risk
Classic ASP Applications
End of Support: 2005First-generation web applications that are security nightmares and maintenance black holes.
- Massive security holes
- No framework support
- Hard to maintain
- Can't attract developers
- Compliance risks
Other Legacy Systems
dBase, Paradox, Clarion, Clipper, ProgressAncient database platforms that should have been replaced years ago.
- Completely unsupported
- Zero documentation
- Original developers retired
- Running on virtualized old servers
- One hardware failure from disaster
The real cost
The hidden costs of staying on legacy software.
You're not just paying for the software. You're paying for everything else it touches.
Lost productivity
Your team wastes hours on workarounds for tasks that should take minutes.
Security risks
Unpatched vulnerabilities that compliance auditors flag. Attackers exploit them too.
Opportunity cost
Features your competitors have that you simply can't build on your current platform.
Talent drain
Young developers don't want to work on 30-year-old technology. Your hiring pool shrinks every year.
Vendor lock-in
Paying maintenance fees for software that should be retired, with no viable exit path.
Data at risk
One hardware failure away from losing everything. No redundancy, no recovery plan.
The transformation
From legacy system to modern platform.
Your Legacy System Today
- Runs only on specific old hardware
- Limited or no mobile access
- Slow performance
- Can't integrate with modern tools
- No API for automation
- Security vulnerabilities
- Compliance risks
- Expensive per-user licensing
- Hard to find developers who know it
- No cloud deployment options
Your Modern Web Application
- Runs on any modern server or cloud
- Full mobile and tablet support
- Fast, responsive performance
- RESTful API built-in
- Modern security standards
- Compliance-ready
- No per-user fees
- Large talent pool available
- Deploy anywhere (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Our process
We've modernized dozens of legacy systems. Here's how we do it.
Discovery & Documentation
We reverse-engineer your legacy system: data structures, business logic, workflows, integrations. Everything gets documented before we touch a single line of code.
Architecture Design
We design a modern architecture that preserves your business logic while leveraging current best practices. Cloud-native, API-first, scalable by design.
Incremental Migration
We don't do "big bang" cutovers. We migrate in phases with both systems running in parallel. Lower risk, easier rollback if needed.
Data Migration
Every record, every relationship, validated and verified. We migrate your data with zero loss and full audit trails.
Integration Testing
We test everything: data integrity, business logic, integrations, performance, security. Nothing goes live until it's bulletproof.
Training & Support
We train your team on the new system and provide ongoing support. We don't disappear after launch.
Our track record
Numbers that matter.
What you get
Built once. Owned permanently. No per-seat fees.
Future-Proof Technology
Built on modern frameworks with active development communities. You'll be able to hire developers and add features for decades.
Cloud-Ready Architecture
Deploy on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or your own servers. Scale up or down based on demand. Geographic distribution for disaster recovery.
API-First Design
Every function exposed via REST API. Integrate with CRM, ERP, accounting, marketing tools. Anything with an API.
Security & Compliance
Modern authentication, encryption at rest and in transit, audit logs, role-based permissions. HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR ready.
Mobile-First Experience
Responsive design that works on any device. Progressive Web App capabilities for offline operation if needed.
No Vendor Lock-In
You own the code. You own the data. Move to any hosting provider. Hire any developer. No proprietary formats or licenses.
Common questions
What people ask before they call.
How long does legacy system modernization take?
Timeline depends on system complexity. Simple systems (basic CRUD, minimal business logic) can be done in 2–3 months. Complex systems (heavy business logic, multiple integrations, large data sets) take 6–12 months. We'll give you an accurate timeline after the assessment.
Can we keep using the old system during migration?
Yes. We run both systems in parallel during the migration. Your operations don't stop while we build. You switch over only when the new system is fully tested and your team is trained.
What about our custom business logic?
Business logic is the most important thing we preserve. We reverse-engineer everything (every calculation, every rule, every workflow) before writing a line of new code. Nothing gets "simplified away" without your approval.
What if nobody understands how the old system works?
We've dealt with this more times than we can count. Systems where the original developer retired 15 years ago, documentation doesn't exist, and nobody in the building fully understands what it's doing. We figure it out. That's part of the discovery phase.
Do we own the new system?
Completely. You get the source code, the database schema, and all the documentation. You can host it anywhere, hire any developer to maintain it, and run it forever without licensing fees. We've had clients run our code for 20+ years without us. That's fine. It's yours.
