Focused Scope

Before you commit to a build, find out exactly what it takes.

A Focused Scope is a fixed-price first step. We dig into your actual operation, your data, and the systems you are running today, then hand you a written build plan: what we would build, what it costs, the order we would build it in, and where the risk lives. You own the plan. And if you build with us, the whole fee comes off the price of the project.

$1,500, credited in full toward your build. No obligation to proceed.

The scariest part of custom software is committing before you know what you are getting.

Most people who come to us have been burned before. A migration that ran long. A tool that almost fit. A system the last person built and nobody can touch now. So the idea of signing off on a project before you can see the whole shape of it is a hard ask. That is fair.

The Focused Scope fixes that. You pay a small, fixed amount to find out exactly what the build is: the plan, the real number, the phases, and the risks. Then you decide, with the whole picture in front of you, not a guess.

A written build plan, in plain English.

What we would build

The actual system, described so you and your team can read it without a translator.

A real fixed price for the build

Not a ballpark. The number we would put in writing.

The phased path

What we build first, what it does on day one, and what comes later. Most builds start smaller than people expect.

Where the risk is, and how we handle it

The integrations, the data migration, the parts that have bitten other people. We test the risky parts on a small batch before we touch anything live.

You own this plan. If we are not the right fit, you keep it and the number, and you can take it to anyone.

Four steps, then you decide.

1

You book the Focused Scope

Fixed price, paid up front. We schedule the working sessions.

2

We dig in

Not a generic questionnaire. We look at how you actually operate, the data you have, and the systems that have to talk to each other. We ask the questions that change the number.

3

You get the written build plan

What to build, what it costs, the order, the risks. Yours to keep.

4

You decide

Build with us and the full fee comes off the project price. Build with someone else, or sit on it, and you still own the plan.

Build with us, and the Focused Scope was free.

The Focused Scope is $1,500. If you go ahead with the build, every dollar of it comes off the project price. So for anyone who proceeds, the scoping work costs nothing. The only person who is ever out the fee is someone who takes the plan and walks, and even then, they walk away with a real plan and a real number they did not have before. That is a fair trade.

There is no obligation to build. Paying for the scope buys you the plan, not a contract.

Tell me what you are dealing with.

I will send the scheduling details and the invoice, and we will get the working sessions on the calendar.

Not sure you are ready for a paid step? Start with the free 30-minute Clarity Call instead. It answers one question: is custom software worth pursuing for your situation.

What people ask about the Focused Scope.

How is this different from the free Clarity Call?

The Clarity Call is 30 minutes, free, and answers one question: is custom software worth pursuing for your situation. The Focused Scope is the next step. It is paid, it goes deep, and it produces a written build plan with a real fixed price. Most people do the Clarity Call first. If you already know you want to build and you need a real number and a real plan before you commit, you can start straight here.

What does the Focused Scope cost?

$1,500. If you proceed with the build, the entire fee is credited toward the project, so it costs you nothing. If you do not, you keep the build plan and the number.

What if I do not build with you?

You keep the plan. It is written in plain English, it includes a real scope and a real number, and you are free to take it to any developer. We would rather you have a clear plan than feel trapped into building with us.

How long does it take?

Generally a week or two from kickoff to the written plan, depending on how many systems are involved and how available your team is to answer questions.

Do you take payment before the build?

For the Focused Scope, yes, the fee is paid up front. For the build itself, projects are usually structured with a deposit at kickoff, a payment at the halfway point, and the balance on delivery.
